Minimum Requirements for Heavy Duty Service Technician:
This Heavy Duty Service Technician role requires hands-on experience with diesel and commercial vehicle systems.

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or diesel technician
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes systems, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including overtime when needed
  • Ability to operate company equipment
  • Possession of personal tools

Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following credentials and experience are a plus for candidates:

  • ASE certification or technical school training
  • Past experience working with buses, trucks, or large commercial vehicles
  • CDL

Key Responsibilities:
As a Heavy-Duty Service Technician, you will help ensure the safety and reliability of every motorcoach.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical components
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests using computerized tools and manual methods
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to provide timely and effective solutions
  • Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately for compliance and record-keeping
  • Collaborate with dispatch and operations to schedule repairs and minimize fleet downtime
  • Assist with emergency roadside repairs as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
  • Stay current with industry trends, safety regulations, and best practices

Physical Requirements:
This position requires physical capability and stamina to safely perform hands-on mechanical work. Specifically, candidates must be able to:

  • Stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • Lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs) safely
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity and physical stamina when operating tools and machinery
  • Work comfortably in environments that may be noisy, hot, or oily

Because this role involves active shop work, maintaining physical awareness and safe lifting practices is essential at all times.

  • Clear verbal and written communication when working with team members, dispatch, and drivers

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to prioritize urgent repairs or roadside assistance
  • A strong work ethic and personal accountability, with close attention to detail in all maintenance and repair tasks
